US Presidential Election 2024 – In another development on Monday the 25th Mar, Donald Trump wins appeal to reduce New York fraud bond as judge allows to post $175mn within 10 days.
Good news for Trump and his supporters are –
1. Reduction of the bond amount of the bond to $175 million, that Donald Trump must post to settle a $454 million civil fraud verdict.
2. Trump argument worked that that he would have to sell his properties to raise funds.
3. Trump and his sons can continue to conduct business in New York and receive loans from New York financial institutions for the time being.
Donald Trump holds support from 1686 Delegates after Louisiana Primary
US Presidential Election 2024 – On Republican side, former US President Donald Trump swept the majority of Republican primary contests including Louisiana now on 23rd Mar election as he remained the only major nominee for Presidential elections. Haley has already declared her exit from the race paving way for Trump. Donald Trump has been awarded with all the 47 GOP delegates in Louisiana (in a “winner-take-all” manner).
Donald Trump got nearly 89.9% votes while Haley received 6.8% votes. Donald Trump has already won a majority of delegates, who are bound to support him at the GOP convention in July where Donald Trump will be formally selected at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee from July 15 to 18.
Earlier after winning in Super Tuesday on 06th March, Donald Trump had said, “We have a great Republican Party with tremendous talent, and we want to have unity, and we’re going to have unity, and it’s going to happen very quickly”.
US Presidential Election 2024 – Biden easily secured all 47 delegates in Louisiana
President Biden got 86.1% votes while next opponent Marianne Williamson received 4.7% votes. President Joe Biden has also won already a majority of pledged delegates to the Democratic convention this August. So far, he has support from 2526 delegates.
US Presidential Election 2024 – Next important is National Party Conventions
Both Trump and Biden has already won needed number of delegates for Party National Conventions. Delegates are a crucial part of the presidential nomination process. While voters across the country will be casting ballots for their preferred candidates, nominees are selected by delegates at the national party conventions. Delegates represent their states or districts at their party’s national convention. These delegates can be party leaders, activists and volunteers considered to be the important individuals affiliated with the Democratic or Republican political party.
Candidates are awarded delegates in most states based on the results of primaries and caucuses. The Democrats and Republicans use different approaches to allocating delegates.
Next Republican National Convention at Milwaukee
RNC (Republican National Committee) had announced in Dec 2022 the venue for 2024 convention i.e. Milwaukee, Wisconsin, from July 15-18, 2024 to formally select their party’s next presidential nominee. “We look forward to our continued work with the beautiful city of Milwaukee to make this convention week a success. Republicans will stand united in Milwaukee in 2024 to share our message of freedom and opportunity with the world,” RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel had said in a news release announcing the dates. Milwaukee is the most populous city in the state of Wisconsin
Due to Corona pandemic, last convention was held in virtual format from Charlotte, North Carolina.
Democratic National Convention
Democrats National convention will be held from 19-22 August 2024 at United Center in Chicago, Illinois to formally select their party’s next presidential nominee. Notably, first African-American Democratic President Barack Obama had claimed Illinois as his political base when running for President like Abraham Lincoln and U.S. Grant.
