Former US President Donald Trump defeated Nikki Haley in South Carolina Republic Primary
US Presidential Election 2024 – Shortly after polls closed on Saturday night in South Carolina, former US President Donald Trump from his party podium said, “It is sooner than we expected, an even bigger win than we anticipated, this is a fantastic evening, It’s an early evening. You can celebrate for about 15 minutes and then we have to go back to work”. Without mentioning Haley’s name, he said, “I have never seen the Republican Party so unified”.
US Presidential Election 2024 – Easy win for Donald Trump in South Carolina Republican Primary
Donald Trump won 47 delegates and Nikki Haley won support from 3 delegates. Media and people are reading this victory of Trump as easy win while on other side Nikki Haley, who served as the governor of South Carolina from 2011 to 2017, got 39.5% votes and remains the only major challenger to former president Donald J. Trump who remains in the race. As per Haley, she intends to remain in the race through Super Tuesday on March 5.
Nikki Haley was seen leading in 3 counties namely – Richland, Charleston and Beaufort. Trump succeeded highest votes in rest of the counties, greatest count in Cherokee and Dillon (85% Votes) and Union (84% votes).
“The fight goes on” – Nikki Haley says in an email to her supporters. She said that she was proud of her campaign and thanked her volunteers and donors. She also said she was not deterred by the results in South Carolina, and that she would continue to offer a “positive and hopeful” vision for the country. She said in Charleston, South Carolina, “I’m a woman of my word, reminding of her earlier commitment to stay in the race until Super Tuesday. Haley also thanked to her husband Michael Haley , 2 children (Rena and Nalin) and her parents for all the much needed support.
Notably, Haley in New Hampshire had won 17 delegates. She had also lost to “none of the above” in the Nevada primary. Haley said before “Our country is in trouble. But here’s the thing: America will fall apart if we choose wrong. This was never about me or my career. We have to beat Joe Biden in November’. I think Donald Trump can’t beat Joe Biden.”
Michigan is the next and then is coming Super Tuesday on Mar 5
Michigan is going to be the next one for elections of the Presidential nominations both for Republicans and Democrats. Michigan has 16 Delegates to be won by the candidates. Michigan’s Republican party holds a primary race on Feb. 27. It will also hold a state convention on March 2, when it will allocate the remaining 39 delegates and officially allocate the delegates from the Feb. 27 primary race.
In addition to Michigan, before Super Tuesday, we have Idaho, Missouri, North Dakota, Washington D.C. primaries and caucuses that are going to vote for US Presidential Nominations 2024. Thereafter, it will be Super Tuesday on 5 Mar that is said to be a decisive since 874 delegates through 15 States and 1 union will be selecting their preference for next US Presidential Candidate. California and Texas offers greatest number of delegates i.e. 169 and 161 respectively.
If we go by Trump’s campaign, Trump will cross the majority threshold of 1,276 delegates by March 12. In a memo to reporters, Trump’s campaign said Haley would be “broken down, out of ideas, out of gas, and completely outperformed by every measure, by Donald Trump”.
Trump has a credit of 106 Delegates so far
Donald Trump has secured support from 107 delegates so far through 5 States and Caucuses election. On the other hand, Haley is having support from 20 delegates. Nikki Haley is known to be Indian American, her parents were immigrants from Punjab, India. Nikki is known by her first name since she was born, this is her Punjabi name, meaning ‘little one’.
